The Original Canadaiian Shirt:

Say the words Hawaiian Shirt and no further explanation is needed. Gaining iconic status in the early part of the 20th Century, it has been a fashion classic ever since.

Many of the Hawaiian Shirts today are not only not produced in Hawaii, but also have themes that have nothing to do with the Pacific paradise. It's status is so powerful people automatically refer to many loose fitting, brightly coloured casual shirts as a Hawaiian shirt.

Using the immense popularity of this shirt, the "Original Canadaiian Shirt" identification and branding power of the Hawaiian shirt to the less temperate shores of Canada.

...by misspelling Canadian as "Canadaiian" there is an automatic association with the  Aloha spirit of Hawaii. Using themes specific to Canada, e.g. hockey, beer, the maple leaf, etc., and presenting them in a bright and festive way, the spirit of the Aloha is evoked while the subject matter is near and dear to Canadians.
